Buy electrical goods now in sale v wait till flat ready?

With all the sales on at the minute I must admit it's tempting to buy things like a hoover or microwave whilst they are supposedly "half price" (although I'm suspicious of the way they market these supposed bargains). Alternatively I could wait for my new build to be ready in March when they may well have spring sales and the guarantee period will start from the time I move in rather than from January.
I wouldn't buy things such as kettles, toasters, fridges, sofas, tables etc until I have seen the precise layout and decided on what will match my apartment (also I couldn't store such big goods anywhere) but a hoover and a microwave I doubt it really has to match. Do you think it's worth waiting 'till I've moved in?

yes. i had this. most sales are a con, no cheaper than two months ago. also if you buy things now and dont open the box for months, what happens if it dont work?0

I agree, your warranties will start expiring.
Personally, I think that decent prices can be found all year round. For small appliances, I find robert dyas have some good prices, theres always a sale section in argos online too.
If you havent discovered quidco yet, join up. you should get quite a lot of cash back from those, and the discount vouchers section here is great for avoiding those postage & delivery costs.
Happy moneysaving

x:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
If you see any decent bargains like small goods, hoovers etc then yes I would buy them IF they are a genuine bargain I wouldn't buy large goods are there a pain to move. I agree the sales aren't always what they are cracked up to be. I also research how much things costs so I no roughly if its a decent buy0

Make a total list of what you require. (Price it just now in the sales.)
Then when you're moving in, go around each store and ask what discount they'll give for the whole lot.0 -
My partner and I made the mistake of getting over excited and buying a load of things in the early stages of the buying process. 3.5 months down the line and with no completion date in sight due to unforeseen "complexities", we're beginning to regret being so eager - it could easily all fall through. Don't make the same mistake we did.0

To be honest united4ever, I was thinking of doing the same as we are seriously looking to buy our first property. I even went a step further and checked out storage space to store things which I may buy on sale for my new property. But then I backed down because surely there will be sale again for the Easter bank holidays.
I would disagree with some of the response because I have bought few things on sale now (Ipod, TomTom etc) and its a bargain. check out MSE's discount codes, shop but don't drop and grab it before you miss it forums categories for discounts. Quidco is good as well.
Personally I think buying hover and microwave on sale now won't hurt. As a matter of fact, I'm looking for dyson hover's on sale and haven't decided which one. But if I find one that is really good bargain then I will go for it. But dont worry to much about missing sale now, because easter bank holiday sale will help. I hope we get good bargains on easter bank holiday sale because I have a huge list of things to buy for new property.0
