As the title says....can anyone reccomend a cheap and cheerful caravan park on the north east coast (not bothered where) we have a 5 year old who is happy on a beach all day. Would like electric hook up if possible and space for an awning. On a tight budget as we have borrowed the caravan for a week...its our first attempt at caravanning
Thanks x

Old Hartley caravan site near Whitley bay. Stunning views over headland and within walking distance of several lovely beaches. can also walk over causeway to lighthouse and fish in the rock pools. Several good pubs around serving good value bar meals. Friends of ours are staying there at the moment and rate it highly. Electricity is included in rates which seem v reasonable. I live nearby so could offer suggestions about things to do etc if you pm me.

If The OP is borrowing a tent, then irt is hardly likely theyu will be members of the Caravan Club.
I'm not sure whether they accept non members .. but always worth a phone call to find out.
I live in Whitley Bay and the beach is quite nice, though the best one is at King Edwards Bay, at Tynemouth, on the north side of Tynemouth Priory.
And don't bother paying for sea front car parks .. park next to the tall flats, behind the Brierdene Pub (pub on seafront at Whitley Bay)
Have a good stay0 -
My favourite place on the north east coast line is seahouses and Bamburgh. With a beautiful castle practically on the beach at Bamburgh and the harbour, small attractions and boat trips from seahouses you cant go far wrong.
My first choice wouldn't be whitley bay for a holiday (sorry people of whitley bay it still needs some work) it's ok for the day.
I love walking on the beach at tynemouth and coffee at Crusoes on a sunday afternoon.
The north east coastline is underated in my opinion and is really very stunning.0 -

I know Centenary Way at Filey gets good reviews but have never been myself.
We like Flower of May, also at Filey but no direct beach access.
UKCampsite.co.uk is great for reviews and other info.0 -

soccermom - you are so right. But really just being selfish, should we not keep this to ourselves?
