Paying rent by cheque - uknown name of account holder

Hi, I hope somebody could help. I moved in to a new (shared) flat recently. I paid the first rent instalment and the deposit in cash and I received the contract and the receipts. I suggested to the landlord that from now on I would like to either pay by cheque or bank transfer to keep a record. The landlord agreed to cheque payments but asked for the cheques to be paid in the name of somebody I do not know - it could be her partner but it could be somebody else. Should I agree or probe this? I do not want to create problems right at the start but am I right to be suspicious?

Get a signed receipt for rent paid everytime you give a cheque and then you have the paperwork to show its paid !
Should not matter what name its in as long as you have paperwork to verify you have paid in full you should be covered !0 -
Good idea. I will be covered twice (receipt + bank transaction).
thanks0 -
Is the property in England/Wales?
Do you have an individual AST for a room with shared communal areas, or is it a joint contract (with you as one of several tenants on a single tenancy agreement)?
Or, does your LL live in the same flat?0
