Fixing Sebo K2 myself

I have an excellent but out of guarantee Sebo cylinder vacuum cleaner on which the cable has jammed so that I now have less than a metre's length available - very annoying when you have to keep changing sockets to clean even a small room and dragging round an extension cable is an even worse idea. We've already tried all the obvious pulling, pushing etc.
Our local electrical repair shop charges £30 even to put the machine on the workbench and the chap muttered that he'd have to research getting into the machine in any case.
So, how do you get into the guts of the machine to free up the cable reel? I assume it might be something to do with the airflow belt around the middle since there are no obvious screws or fixings.
I have no intention of fiddling with the 'dangerous' bits, just can't justify a £50 or £60 bill to untangle a part that may well tangle up again in a few months time - when I won't be able to justify a £50 or £60 bill to untangle a part that may well tangle up again in a few months time .......

At the risk of stating the obvious…….
K2 is NLA but current ones have a 5 year guarantee, if it’s outside time that then it’s a matter of finding the screws that hold it together and dismantling until you find the fault, most likely a broken spring or bit of plastic.
Might be worth ringing their service department in advance to make sure the parts are available. (and also for pointers on how to get it apart.)0
