Moving home - and supplier

Hi all,

Where we currently live, we just have a monthly electricity bill - however, in a week and a half we're moving to a flat with both gas and electricity. We live in Merseyside - does anyone have any suggestions on who the cheapest supplier is in our area?

Many thanks in advance.
Louise

On the day you move into the new flat, phone the Utility supplier for that flat - Letting Agent should have the details - and advise them you are the new tenant and give them the gas & elec. meter readings.
Also phone the elec supplier of your old flat on that day, advise them you are moving out and give them the meter reading(s)
KEEP A NOTE OF ALL THESE METER READINGS & THE DATE IN A SAFE PLACE

As a new account, the supplier to your new flat will automatically put you on thier "Standard" tariff which is the most expensive, but they should also have a record of the previous occupiers annual Elec & Gas consumptions - Ask them for these figures - and use them on the Switch sites to look for a better tariff which might even be from the existing supplier.

In the event that you can't get the previous occupiers records, go into the Switch sites and enter annual use figures of 3,000Kwh of Elec & 12,000 Kwh of Gas - This will allow you access to all the supplier prices in your area and give you an estimated guess of what your monthly D/Debit will be.
Keep in mind that these useage figures are a rough guess and that you must take weekly meter readings to judge if they are too low or too high, so that you can adjust your D/D payments accordingly
  • Thank you, it's much appreciated!
