OR interview at 9 this morning

Hello there,

I've got my OR interview at 9 this morning, I don't think I've ever felt so scared or nervous in my life.

I've not slept a wink, and this morning I feel scared, nervous, sick, anxious... I just want it to be over.

Don't worry to much about it. The examiner is just doing a job and is not there to judge you.

Just have your paperwork in front of you, a drink and a pad with any questions you want to ask him and to jot down notes. There will be silences while he is filling in paperwork, just sit quietly and sip your drink and don't fill in the silences with chatter. Stick to the facts and don't waffle, be as clear and precis as you can and if you don't know something just say so.

If you need a break just ask.

    All the best.

Thank you for the advice, I'll do that. I don't know why I'm so scared, I've had a sick feeling since yesterday and I just want it over with.

    Hi there,

Well I've finished, was on the phone for an hour!!

It was really difficult going through everything with him, talking about it and having to be accountable for my actions was really quite scary. But he was very matter of fact and didn't judge me so made me feel at ease. The main thing was trying to remember everything, I've been burying my head for so long that I can't remember some details. But he gave me time to explain everything and was a genuinely nice chap.

He just skipped through my monthly figures and agreed with them, I didn't have to justify anything. He said a few things were high but didn't query them.

I'm so relieved it's all over now, just waiting for a letter to say when I start making my payments... how long does this usually take? He told me it could be a couple of months before I start paying.

Thanks everyone for your help and support. It's been one of the scariest times of my life and although everyone says don't worry it'll be fine it doesn't put your mind fully at ease. I can now say that it wasn't as bad as I was expecting, but I am so relieved it's over and I can now start getting on with the rest of my life and not have to worry about things.

To be honest I don't know what advice I'd give to some just starting out on this daunting journey... it's a very scary thing to have to go through but all the help and support this site offers is invaluable and I think I'd be a lot more worried if I didn't have it to fall back on. You're going to be scared but I can now honestly say it really isn't as bad as you might think and it comes as a huge relief when you've been to court and had the interview with the OR.

Thank you all again for all your help and support, I hope I can be of help to others in the same situation.

I'm now looking forward to the rest of my life, I feel a weight has been lifted now I've actually dealt with it. No more worrying about calls and letters :)

Well done, glad it went OK for you. Your IPA payment could take up to 3 months to implement, in the meantime any money you have surplus is yours to keep.:)

To be honest I'd like to start paying the IPA as soon as possible.

When do they normally start the IPA from, is it the beginning or end of the month?
