Restaurant food taste really bad : (

I would say uneditable

A rating out of 10, I would give it a 3

I went to a buffet today near compton street.

The food tasted rubbish, I didn't even want to pay them. It tasted a bit off as well

the buffet cost £5.90, they then added 10 percent service charge to the bill.

I total cost £6.50.

I refused to pay the service charge and payed the £5.90. I still feel ripped off :(

The only thing edible was the prawn cracker, spring rolls and the prawn on toast with hardly any prawn paste. Im basicly payying £5.90 for prawn crackers and spring rolls

I normal go out for food and pay £7 to £10. I never had a problem and pay happyly, Im not a fussy person.

I hate it when restaurant owners get away with this, luckly this doesnt normal happen. soemthing like this happened 8 years ago lol

I was eating the prawn cracker and angry and the same time. I feel the other customers where polite there and wouldnt say anything even when it doesnt taste so good. I felt sorry for them and myself

What do you think I could do if a situation happens again?

Is there anything I could do now?

Who here experienced something like this? lol

Sorry, I dont know if i posted this in the right section?

You should really complain at the time, it could be that the buffet had been sitting around a bit too long. If the staff don't know a customer is unhappy there's not much they can do. I'm betting that when the waiting staff stopped by your table and asked if everything was alright, you nodded and cheerfully said "yes, lovely, thank you."

Their reputation relies on people like yourself being upfront with them. I'm sure they would've preferred to see a positive review instead of a rant this morning, but they never got the chance to put your complaints right.

You can vote with your feet now though - don't dine there again.

Tbh , at the price I would expect it not to be very good , when you factor in all the over heads , wages , etc , plus a profit , there isnt going to be a lot of money left to spend on the ingredients
Vuja De - the feeling you'll be here later

Hundreds of buffet places at these prices grow and prosper.
There is difference between "good" and unedible... sorry. No, for this price you are not expecting the same standard, but you are expecting it to be edible.

OP I have no idea what do you think you can do now? A bit too late? All you can do now is to leave them bad review on the internet. That is what people do if they don't like something but are too shy to say at the time (or do so and are dismissed).
And then never visit the place again.

Thanks for the advice, I will do this if it turns up again, wish I had the courage to do it in the first place :)

Yeah, I'm one of the shy ones

I don't really agree with this.

I been to lots of buffets and lot of them are really good, for the price

I agree about the overheads, wages. If profit is an issue, they can charge more, what I had was uneditable.

    Not even worth £2

I'm ever so sorry but I have read this load of comments several times and - do you mean inedible rather than uneditable as the two words to me mean something totally different.
As regards putting a "bad review on the internet" Where? and how would anybody know?

There are special restaurant rating sites.... Quite a few actually.
    Tripadvisor, yell.com, pubreview, restaurant-guide... Loads.

I often google the restaurant name before I go to unknown place to me (like when you have opportunity to buy voucher or when you go for road trip) and I usually find some reviews...

If nothing else it might make OP feel better...

Review sites are very important to restaurant/hotel owners.

    It's inedible.

Whether it's unedible or inedible, buffets should not beable to get away with this.

i've hardly ever found buffets to be of good quality, think about it if its all you can eat how do you expect them to make a profit? it'll be bulk bought over salted food, best off to read reviews in advance the place in central london are mainly tourist traps.

I went to a new one the other day in Cardiff and thought it was terrible a lot of these places are word of mouth if they are bad you might go and tell ten people it's rubbish then they do the same etc, the one i went to the food was cold and not very tasty, the problem is they are all about mass produced food instead of worrying about the quality it's all about the quantity. I would rather go out for a nice meal somewhere than go to one of these buffets.
