Pop up bath waste problem

I recently had a new bath installed with a pop up waste and combined overflow/bath stopper control. When the bath is full, when twisting the bath stopper control to lift the plug, the weight of the water keeps the plug down so the bath won't empty only if I stand and hold it open. The overflow/bath stopper control and waste is connected with a white cable, can I adjust this in some way to stop this happening? Please help:j

Have you tried adjusting the screw on the bottom of the plug to give it more height?

Seems easier than adjusting the cable, although if it is a cable problem I would suggest getting your bathroom fitter back out to fix it if it is a recent installation. We had a similar problem (although other way around- the plug wouldn't hold a seal and would slowly drain when taking a bath) with our system just after installation, and got our guy back out to fix.

I just twist the control to open the plug, then lift the plug out. The bath drains a lot quicker that way. Defeats the object, I know, but it works.
