Insulating across beams & deliberatly leaving loft poorly insulated

Would 1 inch insulation, floorboards and 3 layers of carpet count as adequate insulation? I suspect not but don't fancy doing much about it.

i thni k my loftroll in attic is at least 8 inches thick,to get that thickness best using loft roll as 100mm kingspan is nearly £50 for i sheet 8x4

i was looking into cavity wall insulation the other day and quite by chance stumbled over Polyfoam Supadeck for boarding out lofts :
