Completion Certificate

Not sure if anyone can help?

My Brother and S-I-L have just made their final payment on their IVA. My IVA finished over a year ago and have been advising them on the importance of the post IVA 'clean up' and have offered to help get this sorted for them.

They have been in touch with her IP company (sorry I do not know who that is) and they have said that their completion certificate can take up to 6 months to come through!!??

Does anyone know if this is normal? mine took 5 days (maybe I was just very lucky). I have said that they can make a start by looking over their credit file and making sure that the default dates are no later than the start date of their IVA etc.

Is there anything they can do to speed this up? or are the IP companies allowed to take this long??

Thanks

Hi -- in all likelyhood you will find this "administration period" written into the terms of the proposal. They are allowed UP TO 6 months, many (in fact most) don't take anywhere near that time. However, things are not all within the IP's control and some of the time is spent waiting for late claims and dealing with awkward creditors.
