Hi hopefully one of you lovely people can help me?
I have just purchased a cheap computer on ebay for my kids, and lo and behold it has no sound.
it is a AMD Sempron 2800+ with XP
When I first boot up, the first thing that appears on the screen is Found New Hardware Wizard and in the box it says 'Audio Device in High Definition Audio Bus' please insert software disk.
I don't know if this has anything to do with it?
Also I tried to google 'no sound' and it said to check system hardware device manager, on the list of Sound, Video and game, it says I have
Audio Codecs
Legacy Audio Drivers
Legacy Video capture Devices
Media control Devices
Video Codecs
Does anyone know what all this means?
Hopefully someone can help
Thanks

then we should be able to locate the driversEx forum ambassador

Download and run this, then check audio, it can take a minute to display things
http://filehippo.com/download_speccy/
Post the make and model of what is listed for audio and anything else which has not got the software loaded0 -
Hi santer it gave me this
http://speccy.piriform.com/results/TwOudrvO2E3esoQTuTd8mY00 -
That says no audio detected, try windows update, optional ones to see if there is an audio download(s)
Try this if it hasn't, you can uninstall all these when you have the information

You can install this, it will give you a list of downloads for your motherboard, avoid any BIOS updates unless the PC is not running properly, any other downloads should be fine
http://uk.msi.com/service/download/
Press click here, unzip the file then run the live update
You can use this to unzip the folder if you have not already got a programme, right click any zipped folders and select 7zip, then unzip to the named folder0 -
Hi Guys thanks both of you, I'm a bit lost, I'm not very technical so Have I got a sound card or not? or do I install what you guys are saying?0
