We loved it and I'd go back like a shot!

hope i can help you. i stayed and worked in dubai for 10 months.
if you are going to Dubai in April it would be hot i tell you!
if you really can't avoid it well hope you are ready to meet mr. sun since the normal temperature is 32° and it even came to a 47°.
i just wish you could go there like december to february since the weather is great. its cold and they have a shopping festival around that time.
best if you can eat out. there's a lot of little food stalls around dubai wherein you can buy cheap but safe food. its okay to buy in the food court.
where do you exactly plan to stay in dubai? i suggest you try to check out Karama. Since its like in the middle of it. You're not too far in any thing yet you are not going to stay in expensive hotels. If you can stay in two or three stars hotels you'll be fine in this area.
are you going to rent a car there? i think it would be best to just ride cabs, i don't know if the flag down rate is still 3 AED. i can't suggest you take the bus (its summer go figure :rotfl:)
hope you'll have a great time and don't forget to have a desert safari package

Hi,
We!have a holiday booked for Dubai, last week of aug, first week of sept.
2adults and 2 year old.!
!
Have realised it's Ramadan and wondering if things will be open?!
If we get the entertainer book, would we still get our moneys worth? Things be open etc?
Also looking at either hotel or apartment. Have read that the hotels do a meal in the evening which is good, so would it be better to stay in a hotel? We were thinking of visiting abu dhabi, would there be much to do during Ramadan?
Would the desert trips etc still be running?!
Any advice much appreciated. !0 -
Yeh, dont panic, its pretty westernised, just stick to the malls/hotels and the english pubs like double decker and they will be serving food all day.
I wouldnt panic about it too much, we are going mid august coz its cheaper.
We are staying at Golden Sands apartments which would be great for a family as it has self catering facilities, i booked that via opodo, and we got a great deal.
I would check out ebay for people advertising vouchers from the entertainer book, we have just bought some. There are vouchers like bogof wild wadi, bogof dolphins, bogof atlantis etc.
Cheers
