I've just had a quick look at her shopping thread, I'd love to know where she lives because she gets a massive amount of fruit & veg from the market for £20 and also 30 free range eggs for £2.40 from a local shop.

I agree - my market might knock a bit of for favoured customers - by we are taking round down to the pound or chucking in something for free - not knocking nearly a thrid off the total!

However can we stop being so MSE and give her a pat on the back for reducing her phenomenal food bill. Let's face it while Weezle does it for £100 she doesn't use food I eat, whereas ( leaving out the rubbish) this is more food I would eat.

That's because there is no way on this earth - or I should say in this country - to create a menu plan containing that sort of food for that sort of money. It just can't be done. To keep it as low as Weezl did (as well as meeting the basic nutritional guidelines) some seriously off-the-wall thinking was required !

I was surprised by how much they knocked the price down, I was at the market on Saturday I got £12.80 worth of fruit & veg, the stall-holder charged me £12 and I'm a regular customer. They certainly wouldn't knock a third off.

  • I am always shocked by how much people say they spend on takeaways, if we have a rare takeaway (Me, OH, DS1 19, DS2 17, DS3 14) so all adults really we spend

Chipshop (2 portions chips, and either sausage in batter or fishcake (large ones if required)) - Never more than £10
Pizza (2 Large pizzas between us) - £16
Chinese (Various dishes) = Never more than £21
McDonalds (We use the poundsaver menu usually) - £13-£15
KFC (Bucket of some sorts plus a mini fillet or popcorn chicken) - £16 but sometimes cheaper
Real men never follow instructions; after all they are just the manufacturer's opinion on how to put something together. :p

Price of a chippy completely depends on location - near us, 2 portions of fish and chips is £7 - my in laws in Essex pay something like £18!!
