Just Giving and alternatives for single event

We are a small registered charity and one of our fundraisers wants to do an event and advertise/fundraise via Just Giving (probably up to £1000). We have had a look at the Just Giving costs and it seems very expensive for just a single event. We know other larger charities that use Just Giving and do very well but they have many fundraisers and events so can afford it.
We have found a few alternatives (Virgin, Everyclick, Bmycharity) but wondered if anyone else has any suggestions.
update:
Have found this old thread from which is very helpful.

Has there been any development since then?
Have also found Martin's article. The BT service looks handy.

Can't comment on any recent developments, but we use Virgin and JustGiving and are very happy with both.
Even for a one-off event, we found it worthwhile to register with JustGiving, because one event turned into several more. That was in the days before Virgin et al were on the scene / well known.Signature removed for peace of mind0
