sorry, wasn,t quite sure what to put for the title but i have just been called by an agency collecting debt for tesco. they say that if i pay them 3500 pound now they will write off the outstanding debt of 3500. does this sound plausable?
i am in the process of applying for an iva, grant thornton are handling it on my behalf but it has been dragging on now for about 4 months now and still haven,t got a date for the meeting. tescos are only 1 of 5 creditors and one of the smaller ones. i recieved advice from this site a few months ago as my situation isn,t very straightforward
my thoughts at the moment are go on with the iva but if they refuse me then contact my creditors seperately and make them offers like what tesco have just done.
any thoughts anyone?

Go with your thoughts if tesco have already sold your debt on they wont be very interested the debt so you wouldnt have anything to lose with the iva route or negotiation.0

If you are negotiating an IVA paying off one creditor would be seen as favouring that creditor and will not be looked an at all favourably by the others.
As a side note. I have been reading of a lot of grief at the hands of GT lately. They have just taken over Blair Endersley's caseload and are having a tough time sorting it all out. This seems to have cost them their customer service skills and they are almost impossible to deal with at the moment. If you haven't committed to them it might be an idea to fish elsewhere.0 -
grant thornton sent me a draft of the proposal last week which i signed and returned, so i am quite down the road with them now.0

Ah right --- yes, now signed you are with them for the long haul. Hopefully they will straighten out the BE fiasco and get back on an even keel sooner rather than later!.0
