Advice needed pls with BA travel insurance

Hi i was wondering if i could get some advice before i contact BA tomorrow.I was travelling to Portugal on the 9th August 20101 and i took out BA value insurance for a grand fee of £13 on the 8th June.
On the 27th June i was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and my symptoms have got a lot worse in the past 2 weeks that now i am on Morphine patches and in so much pain through my whole body.Up to last week i was hoping i could still fly but now it is not possible.
Do i have any chance claiming on my insurance for an illness just diagnosed 3 weeks after i booked my tickets.
Any advice would be most appreciated before i call them, thanks and take care x

I havent read the wording of the policy but in general the concern will be that most insurers do not cover conditions which you are suffering from prior to buying the insurance or travel arrangements even if you do not yet have a diagnosis at that point.

They will potentially therefore check your medical history with the GP and with yourself for any potential signs of fibromyalgia

Travel insurance normally doesn't cover undiagnosed conditions. If you were getting tests when you took out the insurance, or had symptoms which hadn't been diagnosed, then you insurance probably won't cover you. The symptoms would have had to start after the insurance was taken out.

I'm very sorry to hear your bad news.

I don't think you stand to lose anything by contacting your insurer and asking what they think. You might also have a word with your doctor. Anyway, even if you fell ill the day after getting your insurance you should be covered. If, however, you became ill the day BEFORE buying your insurance you would probably not be covered, even if you didn't go to your doctor until afterwards. So the key issue is likely to be whether your doctor believes you were ill or well on the day you bought your insurance.
