is my insurance valid?? - pse help!!!

Hi, I was talking to a friend last night and he has cast doubts in my mind about my car insurance cover. In 1995 I had a car stolen which took my no claims from 3 years down to 1. I was posted to germany with the forces in 1996 and went to get insurance over there for my new car. The quote I was given was expensive and I remarked that if my previous car had not been stolen I would have had 3 years ncd now. The broker told me to get this in writing from my previous company which I did and he re-instated my 3 years no claims as he said theft was not classed as a fault claim in germany. The thing is I was there for 3 years i can't remember whether I mentioned the claim on my next renewal because of what he had said. I came back to the uk with 5 years ncd in 1999 (i didn't have a car some of the time) and have not had an accident or claim since and still use 5years or more ncd for my insurance which is certificated. The question is: is my insurance now still valid or is it as my friend claims "built on a lie" because I may not have mentioned this claim? I am really worried as I have never intentionally broken the law in my life and don't know whether to talk to my insurer and may have to start my ncd from scratch or is it as other people argued nothing to worry about. Sorry for the long post but any informed advice would be great.

    You will be okay.

Either a) the german broker was correct about theft being regarded differently in the UK in which case, all is fine. or

    b) The broker was wrong. That would mean you should have had 3 yrs NCD - 1 yr (following theft) plus a further 2 earned in Germany. You have since had 7 claim free years so ncd would be 10 yrs in total.
Most insurers disregard anything over 5 yrs anyway and besides, 10 yrs would get you max NCD with any firm.

I cannot see anything to worry about. Your actions have been totally above board throughout.
