hi, i purchased a bed from the above catalogue about 6 months ago. this was paid over 2 payments. the bed has since been a nightmare and is droppin to bits. i've spoken with choice and they have agreed to take the bed back.(although i'm being messed about with collection) problem is theyre telling me i cannot have cash and can only have a my account credited. this is useless to me as i have family members who've purchased goods through my account. basically the refund will only knock money off there bill. can i demand a full refund to purchase one elsewhere? sorry if this isnt explained fully but i'm just goin to work. any advice would be appreciated cos i'm sleeping on the floor. thanks

After this amount of time they don't have to refund you.
They can repair, replace or refund and it's their choice. So if they're offering account credit then maybe it's worth accepting...
They can also deduct a fair amount from the figure to reflect the amount of use you have had from the item also.
So no, you can't demand a full refund.... well you can, but they are unlikely and under no obligation to accept it.
I'm surprised nobody replied though... seems a straight forward case to me0 -
what is a 12month gaurantee for then? and doesnt every product come with a certain amount of use? a bed is surely purchased with the intention to use it for more than 6 month0

If you have other things from this company on credit thats due in the next 30 or 60 or whatever days then you owe them this money, The company are taking the cost of the bed towards the purchases you have made. The way a lot of companies see it nowadays is that its getting harder to get payments from customers so if they can do it this way they will.
You could always ask your friends / family to pay you directly for their purchases.
The question i think is do you still have other products on credit with this company with your account?
If you purchase items regually with them will it really matter to you that its a credit not a refund?
Is the 12 month guarentee with the manufacturer or retailer?wow, first time i've had no reply. does kno one genuinely kno the answer or does this question not warrant advice?
People on here are giving their own advice, 5 hours isn't really much time to wait for a reply - perhaps bump the thead up after 24 hours - it just makes you look impatient and makes people less willing to offer advice.0 -
sorry for my impatience. i need a bed. i have no cash to purchase one and do not wish to recieve a replacement. i owe nothing on my account but other family members do. they pay a small monthly fee covering there own payment plan. they do not have the cost of the bed money to give me in full. i'm sleeping rough at the minute and need a bed, quick. it took 3 days to recieve the bed, its already taken them 2weeks and the bed is still here ready to go.0

That may be the problem - If other people owe things on your account then they are using the money from the cost of the bed to pay for it wich they can do. Your friends and family should each have their own account and not use yours.0

if this didnt happen catalogue accounts wouldnt exist. just for the record i have a perfect credit history. thankyou for the replies.
I don't understand this - most catalogues will prohibit you allowing anyone else to use your account. Where I live at present, there are four people in a family with seperate credit accounts with the same catalogue - had that been the case with you then they wouldn't be offering account credit.
I think your only options are to ask the family members to give you the money now, divide the cost of a new bed by however many family members owe money and asking them for that if it's less, or choosing another bed from the catalogue and using the credit towards that.0
