Went down this morning and explained situation and gave me dell reference number and that was all he needed to give me an exchange. I might have been able to fight for an actual refund but I was just happy to get something. Hopefully I might find someone who wants to buy the gift card off of me.

Thanks for everyones help. I went in there aware of my rights and ready to fight.. and was really shocked that I didn't need to in the end! lol :)

You could of tried fighting for a actual refund, but they are under no obligation to give you it (both under their own T&C and under any SoGA law)

But yes, if the KnowHow Expert/Specialist knew his job and the processes then you wouldn't have to quote any legalese. I would like to say KnowHow/Dixons are getting their act together in terms of aftersales service, but basing a company outlook on one transaction is a little too narrow. They had a big problem, and it takes time to turn a ship that big around, and as of late they seem to be picking up their game.

Anywhooo its good to see you got a resolution to your problem with no hassle or problems.
