just put them on , still feel a little wierd, better, but a little wierd.

    its the left eye.

my usual specs are -1.75 left eye and my new prescription said -1.50 so obviously my new specs are -1.50

the woman said if they are still not great maybe the prescription is wrong and ill have to be re-tested...may have to go down that route

The other possibility is the lens form (curvature). It's unlikely to be an issue with your prescription but not impossible that you are struggling to adapt the distortion created by the lenses.

I am actually going on Holiday Saturday so dont have the time before hand to go back to Boots and speak to them.

If curvature is the case what do you suggest?

It is very weird that my old glasses are perfect then i put these ones on and i have a wierd feeling.

Please advise, im getting down about this, especially after paying around 150 for them. if they were a tenner they would be in the bin by now. I feel im losing a battle here against a peice of plastic.

If it is my prescription, do you think they would re-test me for free? and then take the specs from me and remake themselves free of charge on the basis that they provided me with a wrong prescription in first place?

    THANKS!

Quite simply, if it's the prescription, then it's the prescibers liability to rectify the situation.

If it's a dispensing issue, then it's down to the product not being fit for purpose and that's for the dispenser to sort out.

I know it's a bit late to be saying so, but this is a classic case of why it is best to have your eye exam and dispensing done at the same place. It can be very frustrating being caught between 2 stools when there is a problem.

    indeed you are correct?

are you an expert in this field?

i went to boots and they have booked me in for another eye test next month when im back from a trip overseas.

if the prescription is incorrect (which i think it could be) i will just ask them to make up a new pair of specs with my frames...shouldnt be too much for basic lenses? do you know rough price?

also. you say its the glass makers issue, but boots gave me a prescription , i then used that medical notes to buy glasses and becuase of wrong prescription the glasses are wrong! so wouldnt you think in good will they would fix the glasses?

    cheers! :A

But the prescription only stated lens strength, not lens type, design, index, fitting, tint etc - that's for the dispenser to take responsibility for.

If it's the prescription at fault - I'm sure Boots will sort it out for you (I certainly would at my practice if the situation were to ever arise).

But if it's a dispensing issue, they are under no obligation to deal with a mess which is not of their making. They may choose to out of goodwill and in hoping to keep you loyal custom next time.

Or they may say on your bike - as they will already have made a loss from performing your initial eye exam, let alone checking your prescription a 2nd time plus other time dealing with your query.

That bit is variable, depending on the lenses - coatings etc.
