Glasses/specs problem

Options
I bought a pair of specs from the web, chose default PD. When they turned up it was obviously wrong. when i contacted them they told me the default PD is 61, so I measured my own PD and its actually 64/5. I asked them to change the lense to the correct PD and after some arguing they did and I have just recieved my glasses with the PD i supplied them.

Now that I have recieved them they still feel a little odd. Not too odd but enough to make me a feel a little funny. Ive had it with the company i ordered from so gonna go down another route.

Do you think a normal optiton will look at the specs for me? make sure everything is correct in comparision with my prescription? and make sure PD is right?

Thanks for listening to me!

You can but ask, you may find your original Optician will look at the specs and ensure they are correct to the original prescription, as for any other Optician I would doubt it very much !

A different Optician to who originally tested you ? In my opinion - No.

There would be no price structure in place for such a service, they would then be pointing the finger so to speak at who ever made the mistake and most likely wouldnt want to put themselves in the middle of whatever action you decide to take.

The more cooks you gather around the pot the more confusing it will be for you, the Optician that provided the sight test will be able to check the specs and ensure they are to his specifications, if they are he is then in a position to look at re-testing you as potentially the error lies with the test. If they dont match what he prescribed they will tell you in what way and hopefully give you an idea of what to do next.

It could be something as simple as a fitting adjustment !

ok valid and good advice thank you.

i think i will go to boots opticians where i got my original eye test.

i just hope they dont tell me to GET OUT as i didnt buy the specs in theyre store.

what shall i say? just that i used the boots prescription to buy the glasses online, have had them checked couple of times by the sellers and stil dont feel right so wanted to get them compared and checked with the original prescription people?

will they do the basic checks for free? im happy to pay to be honest, just want a lense that is correct now.

    ta.

I personally wouldnt tell them where you had them made, no need to lie just dont volunteer the info ;)

Its quite common for people to have specs made elsewhere, all you need to do is pop in with your specs and explain that the test was theirs and specs from elsewhere. Fully describe the problems you are having, again I wouldnt tell them you have had them re-made due to PD error as you may steer them down the wrong path !

If you can take a pair of old specs with you, it helps to see what you are used to.

"feeling odd" can be so many things, one of which is an incorrect P.D. It can also easily be the fitting, the angle of the lenses to your eye, how close together the nose pads are etc etc.

Dont stress about it, its more common than you think :)

Just a thought, you didnt mention contact lenses before. Did you have the prescription updated for those too ? If you are swapping between 2 prescriptions, even if there is only a slight difference, you will pick up on it.
