Hello, is it possible to set up as a sole trader were the new business is duel purpose? I have 2 ideas that i want to start up in.

Yup, sure is.
Dual pupose? Do you intend to trade as one or two businesses?
Just make sure you register with HMRC within 3 months of starting up.
www.hmrc.gov.uk then click on link for employers located on the first/home page

Changed since i set mine up then.
Expanded... As a sole trader you just need to register as for self-assessment.
If you were interested you could register your business with Business Link - many useful helpsheets available (all for FREE!)

As long as you are not thinking you get separate tax allowances for each enterprise. You only get one.

i do exactly the same. I run a webhosting business and a marketstall, both businesses have different names, but are classed as part of ***** which i use for my business bank account , VAT etc.0 -
