Moving cash in UK Euro account to UK GBP account

Hi,

My girlfriends parents are buying a house. They're funding the deposit with 60,000 euros from an inheritance in Portugal. I've moved this cash into a Euro account with Barclays.

We've tried to transfer this using currenciesdirect. They quoted us £52,700 this morning, then after we registered they changed their mind and offered £50000!

Does anybody know a quick and easy way to transfer this? Barclays are probably not competitive themselves, they won't even give us a quote and told us to transfer it first to see how much they'd get!

and then try whichever currency exchange broker you prefer to do the deal using XE trade as a bench mark.
