Thomason Holiday Help!

Hi everyone,

Lookin for some advice. We booked a group holiday with thomsons unfortunatly one of the people now cant go.

Its all paid for, but we've now been advised that he will have to pay £120.00 his not going because his just lost his job and cant avoid it so e cant afford the £120 either!

How will this affect everyone else and what will happen if we just check in without him.

Any advice desperatly received!!

Thanks....Jay x

Can you find someone to take his place and have a name change done instead?
Group holidays are a problem for such circumstances. How long have you got until departure date?

How many of you are going?

Would it be feasible to have a whip round for him to give him some spends so he doesn't miss his holiday? If it's all paid for, it would be a shame for him to miss out and if he hasn't got a job, he might not be able to have one for some time.

My BIL lost his job about 2 weeks before he was going on holiday with my sister, they went as it had all been paid for and it was AI, is this the case for you?

ooh that is pretty soon. Maybe it is worth you all clubbing together so he can still go, and paying you back when he can/ in small denominations. It's got to be paid for one way or another. So good suggestion from lady1964 maybe

  • Check his travel insurance (pretty sure Thompsons requires one before travel), many cover for having to cancel due to redundancy.

I have booked a hol in sept with Thomson for 4 of us but I need to fly out on a different day. I was told by one of their reps on the phone that I could not cancel, would not receive any money back but should just not use my flight. It costs £35 to name change.
The Thomson team were great on the phone but don't bother to email, it too 3 weeks to get a response.

we told thomsons travel agents there was a possibility one of our party might not be able to travel but we would not know until close to the date of travel. they told me it would not be a problem if that person did not turn up at the airport to travel with us.

In that case drive him to the passport office
and leave him there to find his own way home.
    then get a new 'friend'.
