  • if you are looking at pay per view video etc then you are going to need a fair bit of bandwidthas its not the size of each video that is being hosted that costs, but the number of times its downloaded x its size.

As to the making of the site you are going to need something far more complex than a simple bit of html - the honest answer is, if you don't even know what to do after buying a domain name then you won't be able to do this yourselves as you are going to need html, css, sql, php knowledge - if you don't do this properly the site will seem amateurish at best and at worst people will think its a con either way you will get few or no paying customers.
  • Thanks for your honesty i dont want it to be a pro site just abit of a laugh and if i can make money from it great if not.. well at least i tried too!

If anyone is willing to walk me through it step by step please help i need it lol.
I have no knowledge of website design and really need someones help
    cheers
Help me to help you :santa2:

Look at getting a host with Fantastico - this will run scripts that will enable you to load galleries and e-commerce pre-written free open source applications -

There are various galleries that may be able upload videos here are some tutorials http://www.siteground.com/tutorials/index.htm#Gallery

This route will save you programming - you just have to learn an application to begin with... load your template - pictures - videos - read the support forums

once you have all the host sorted, i surgest getting a free template off the net and with a simple designer tool (search for 'free website design software' on google etc...). Open the index.html file from the template package and begin editing.

OR, if you are interested in having your site designed professionaly (with coding) i know a very good person to do it.
he is a small website based, and he charges next to nothing for great looking websites. PM me if you are interested and i will pass you on to him.
(he is in the US by the way, buwith paypal you can oviously pay him etc..)

wow thanks for your help i think my bf has dreamweaver somewhere but i'm not too sure how can i start now?

    thanks again :)

If he has Dreamweaver then he should open it up and start learning how to use it. Create a page called index.html, this will be the front page of the web site.

Don't worry too much about how it looks, at this stage he should just be learning how to use the program, finding out what it can do etc.

If he hasn't done so already, he should activate his tiscali web space. Can't remember exactly how that is done, but if he logs onto his tiscali account there will be a link somewhere.

He will also need an ftp program. There are many good free ones around and I'm sure someone will recommend a good one for you.

If he doesn't want to create a web page from scratch there are many free templates available. Just do a google search for "free web page templates" and find one you like.

I'd recommend that instead of hosting videos on your own site, you host them on a service like YouTube or Google Video. Then you can use the <embed> code from YouTube to stick the video on your site - this is the easiest, simplest and fastest method.

For web-space, I would recommend that you use Jamroll - they give you a WHOPPING 300mb of free webspace (which you can link up with your domain) as well as a dedicated forum which provides help/support. Their hosting comes built-in with Fantastico which can give you really easy ways to set up e-commerce (money transfer).

Another method you might want to use for payments is PayPal - this is ideal if you are going to be taking donations to support your website.

Sorry - just thought I'd add. The ultimate site for free CSS (not html - faster loading, easier editing) templates is: Open Web Design - some great graphical templates available.
