There is always at least one relative giving it the poor me/demand/throw a spanner in the works....explaining your choices to the relative is feeding and empowering them.....having a girly/huggy lunch with Mum and leaving bleating betty to bleat would be what I would do. Hope all goes well and you have a wonderful day!

As my cousin was there, I gave him the all-day STDs to give to his 3 sisters. His mother, who divorced my uncle about 15 years ago, had an evening-only one. I wouldn't have even bothered invite her, but her 4 children (aged 14, 18, 21 and 24) are invited all day. My uncle's widow and baby daughter are invited all day. The ex-girlfriend (of 10 years) who came between the two wives has an evening-only invite too!

So, having not kept in touch with me (only my mother) for the last 15 years, she received her evening-only STD yesterday and sent my Mum a text message complaining! She's never even added me on Facebook, despite me being in regular contact with her 4 kids.
you gave your cousin and your auntie STDs -no wonder people are upset..

serioulsy though its your wedding you have who you want there and do not let others try to demand what they think you should have

Right, I have rels like this, and do you know what I say. F"£k them! I have an Aunt who has stopped talking to me as I havent invited her, but then again the last time I saw her I was 8 (now 26). You've got to be selfish (well, not even that, I think she's lucky to get the evening invite!). End of the day, do what you want to. I kept the peace with another Aunt and Uncle of mine and invited, but she's not even family! The main point I think I'm trying to make is IT'S YOUR DAY.

:doh:OH MY GOD! This dreadful woman just won't stop! Latest installment... Her daughter (21, lives with her boyfriend, couple both invite all day) sent me a Facebook message asking, 'would it be OK if I left OH at home and brought Mum as my 'Plus One'?'

Now, we're not having plus ones during the day - only established (ie very long term/living together/married) couples. My cousin's OH was invited because they've been together for years and live together. Her mother was not invited all day because of the reasons in the original post.

I spent ages writing out a long email saying no, but then gave in. My mother, father, brother and DF all said it would be better to just let her come. In my head I agree, so I called her daughter yesterday to give her the "good news". However, I'm still raging.

HOW RUDE!! I just hope she has the good sense to stay away from me on the day. Oh, and I'll be seating her with the most boring person I can find, in the closest seat to the toilet.

I hope she feels thoroughly ashamed of herself.

WOw - that is desperate indeed! What about the poor OH left out of the party? Some people are just so rude and inconsiderate!

Try not to let it ruin your day - if she is so desperate to come to your wedding let her. Just ask her where your gift is when she arrives and make sure she knows you expect a MASSIVE one! He he he.

Worry not, the boyfriend will be coming along - we just had 2 cancellations. I'm a bit miffed that stupid ex-aunty's getting one place, but at least I can upgrade another person I actually like :D

Ah, that is a relief! I think I would be tempted to say something along the lines of 'It's so lovley to see you, I'm glad we got the chance to invite you as you as clearly you were desperate to come along'...
