Hello,

I recently took out a basic bank account with RBS to run along side my full Natwest current account ! Today i received my welcome pack which arrived opened with a piece of elastic band keeping it closed.

I'm fairly concerned as to why it arrived to me with the seal not attached and clearly it had been opened !

Has this happened to anyone else here ? am i best off getting in touch with RBS about this ?

Thanks !

    Yes for sure !!!
Call the bank or visit a local branch personally and query any security risk this may have. Remember if it was someone with ill intention, they probably now have your bank account number and certainly have your name and address.
I would get in touch as soon as possible.

Are you sure it was opened, -how do you know for sure?

It seems more likely to me that it was never properly sealed in the first place, (e.g. no glue in the machine etc) and all the contents spilled out in the sorting office. The Post Office put a rubber band round the package to stop it happening again. If someone was going to commit fraud then they are more likely to steal the whole packet than to put it back in the post opened.

Was it the actual pack that was opened or the envelope it was in?

Even if it had been there's nothing in it that's personal to you.

Besides, I didn't think you got Welcome Packs for basic accounts - AFAIK they're only for packaged accounts.
