Want to open a starpoint file with microsoft word

A friend has sent me a C.V she has compiled for me using (I think starpoint) and sent it by email for me to open it with Microsoft Word tried this but seems to come up as DOS writing.
I need to get this C.V to Microsoft Word so how can I do it?

What is the name of the file - esp the the file extension .??? eg mycv.???
Or just ask your friend exactly what package they used ?Rich people save then spend.

Its pointstar think I need a program to convert the text into Word.
Managed to get my friend to come around saturday to type my CV into Word thanks for the help.0
