I can take VR after 20 years in my part time job, I can get 18 months pay.
or I can stay in the surplus pool & hope they can find me a job but not in the office i work but still in the same company.
I have set up my own cupcake company 3 months ago which is still in early days. I've yet to cover my costs.
If I take VR can I claim JSA if i'm making the odd cake?
I make 1 order a week in total. I'm not sure when to say this is a job?
or I can stay working for the company & hope they find me a role?

if you are already trading selling cakes then you probably should already be registered self employed.
Ask HMRC problem now is you may have issues with offsetting previous losses setup costs etc.0
