One of my oldies recently started to pick at his food so I have started adding hot water (from the kettle) and soaking it a bit - and he loves it.

I also add approx 1 tablespoon of tinned tripe mix and squish it into a "slurry" with a fork. This gives off enough of a smell to encourage him but there isn't enough of it to upset his stomach.

I tried adding water last night, made no odds, so I stuck a bit of rice on top which mutt promptly picked off and ate, leaving the rest of her food untouched. Mother has also owned up to sticking the odd bit of choccy biccy on top to "encourage" her.
I have therefore reached the conclusion that I am most definitely been played. Little sod. She has always been such a gannet that I couldn't believe she would miss her dinner unless something was wrong. What's that saying about old dogs and new tricks? I will still keep an eye on her weight though, just to be on the safe side.

    It's all DM's fault then!:D

My DMs dog opens doors by jumping up (always has done - DM has to lock the door everytime she goes outside or the dog ends up following her).

If I had a tiny bit of rubbish in a bag (not smelly & not worth wasting a whole bag by putting in the bin) I put in the sink in my loo and shut the door. (Haven't been able to have a bin in the house since "he" arrived).

A couple of times, I came home to a shredded bag and bits everywhere and I thought I'd just not clicked the door properly - one day DM was round and she'd done the same thing and put something against the door (just in case) and the same thing happened.

At that point, I realised that he'd obviously been watching DMs dog and had worked out how to jump up and open the door!;)

    And ....

he's 12, has arthritis and "pretends" he couldn't possibly manage to get on the sofa or into/out of the car without help ......

    But ...

can jump up and open a door, then get a bag out of a sink ..... and get the cat bowl off the kitchen table .......

Monkeys - the lot of them!:D

If you start to worry she's losing too much weight, try adding something like a few bits of chicken and some water - the water will take some flavour off the chicken & taste better than usual and it should soak up into the biscuit which may encourage her a bit.
