Moving 'finally' into house in few weeks. House has no TV aerial. I've to get one installed, however any pointers I need to know please?? any particular aerial or spec I should ask for please? Want to make sure I get the right one .....Thanks
P.S. Have to get aerial guy to install, as I wont get up a ladder & I want the aerial on the roof (Why? have lots of tall trees and want best chance of getting a good signal).....

I bought one from Wilkies and fitted it inside the loft and it's fine.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

If you are getting an installer, he'll probably know which aerial is best.
Look at the neighbouring houses and if many have one particular type, then that's probably the one to go for.
Of course, finding a good, reliable installer may also be a problem. Have a cuppa with your new neighbours and ask them

Depends on where you are and how the signal is transmitted near you.

You can either stick your details in the ukfree site and they will tell you what aerial you need - or you can ask an installer! I'd recommend the latter0 -
try and get a local installer if you can, they'll know exactly how to get a good signal, if you buy your own aerial, as long as it's good i'm sure most of them would fit itThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

You want a CAI approved installer. If you have lots of tall trees that could cause ghosting etc. and need a Wideband aerial for your transmitter you probably want a Log Periodic Aerial but as has been said above, it very much depends where you are in relation to your transmitter.
I have the same issue with tall trees and use a Log in the loft with a masthead amp and get an excellent signal from Sandy Heath (around 20 miles away).
Don't be tricked into buying a 'digital' aerial. no such thing exists. Aerials are designed to receive signals from groups of frequencies regardless of whether the transmission is digital or analogue, these groups and a brief explanation can be found here0
