Money Savers looking for free summer holiday activities might be interested to know about hundreds of free local play events that are happening across the UK to celebrate Playday 2011 this summer.

Playday is the national day for play in the UK, this year being held on Wednesday 3 August. Locally organised events include jubilee-style street parties, festivals in parks or village greens, mass adventures in woodlands and parklands, and even back-garden play dates - you name it, it’s happening this Playday!

To find out how Playday is being celebrated near you, visit the Playday website (Google "Playday").

So, how are you going to join in the fun? :j

Playday is coordinated by Play England, part of the leading children's charity the National Children’s Bureau, working in partnership with Play Wales, PlayBoard Northern Ireland and Play Scotland. This year it is supported by Savlon.

  • This year for Playday we are opening our doors to parents and children at Marble Hill to help celebrate and promote the importance of children's play spaces.

The day will be free, Though donations will be greatly appreciated!

We will be having a carnival theme with a BBQ and a parade. Come and play on the rope swings, zip down the zipwire and dance away to some live Music. We will be open rain or shine, so come and show your support!
