Need life assurance, but have hospital procedure coming up soon.

I could do with some advice, I'm needing life assurance to cover mortgage etc. in the event of my falling off the edge of the world(or roof for that matter), but I am going in to hospital early March for a Catheter Ablation to cure(hopefully) my Heart Arrhythmia(same procedure Tony Blair had).
We easily covered my wife, but they didn't want to cover me until the procedure was complete, does anybody know of any companies that will cover me short term, up to the date of the procedure.
Any ideas?

You will almost cetainly be declined until after the operation on all standard life assurance. A special risks policy may offer cover beforehand.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Cheers for the info, Yeh I knew I'd have no chance with standard life assurance, it was the special risks policy I was looking for. Which insurers offer such policies?0
