Can I get my money back?

Hi - I purchased a Groupon voucher from a link on Money Saving Expert so I could buy some Oakley sunglasses from Direct Sight. It says you can redeem from 2:00 today and I want to get some Oakley. When I click the link oakley on directsight it says 'Whoops, our bad... The page you requested was not found, and we have a fine guess why.' They are not answering their phones. Does anyone know if they used the Oakley to get people to buy vouchers and have removed them now? Can I get my money back? Thank you for your help in advance.

The direct link to their Oakleys doesn't work, but if you want to trawl through all the Oakley sunglasses they sell, you can view them at http://www.directsight.co.uk/sunglasses.html?dir=desc&manufacturer=30&order=name.0

Thanks for the link. They have removed the Oakley off for some reason when you click the links... I wonder why. Main thing is you have found them. I hope they have not all sold out. It does say limited stock on the email!0

It has been a total farce, I've complained and am waiting for a further response.
I've sat with a pair in my cart from 2pm onwards today with my voucher not being valid. I phoned them at around 3pm to be told that they were having problems and that voucher would be working by the end of the day. I had this reconfirmed on email shortly after.
So I waited and waited and waited .... at around 5pm the site went down only to reappear with over half of the stock missing, including the glasses I was after!
I've emailed yet again and apparently its still a technical fault at the moment.... I obviously can't try my code to see if that works now because the glasses I am after aren't even on the shop anymore.
Last time I'm using these guys or groupon for that matter.0 -
Hi
I have the same issue, sat there waiting to enter my code at 2pm to be told it was invalid.
I have spoken to somebody and have a chain of emails with some information.
Apparently it wa a technical issue with the codes, which has been resolved, but now all but 5 oakley items are 'missing' from the website. I tried my code against a different brand and it was accepted.
Whilst the voucher code wasn't working the Oakleys were all there and I could have purchased at full price.
Interestingly all but 2 of the Oakley prescription/non-sunglasses are missing too. This does suggest a further issue.
I do suspect they are over subscribed from Groupon (I think they sold around 3k vouchers) and have removed the Oakleys to save them a load of money. One of the emails I have states that Oakley is their most popular range.
I asked if they could confirm stock and was told no, as they could only access via the website. Having worked with ePOS systems this is rubbish.
I also noticed that mopst of the cheaper Oakleys, around £60-80, disappeared last weekend. I was suspicious of this as at the time it looked like they were removing stock
With regard to the groupon refund I mentioned this and was told curtly to review the groupon terms. I guess this means you can stick a refund as there are other items available via the website.
I asked about free postage or further discount to compensate for the issue but they ignored that!
I definately wont be using directsight again, and like you am not sure if I will use groupon again.
It's a shame moronic companies like directsight don't put a little though in to these offer codes/vouchers - limit it to sunglasses over £100 may have been an option, or limit the number of vouchers sold.
Unfortunately greed and/or stupidity gets in the way!
A similar issue happened with the crowdity occado voucher. Luckily I used my code there straight away bit a lot of people missed out due to poor planning.
Wow, that was a rant. This is my first post, hopefully for your sakes there not all this long0 -
Well the site is backup now but not fully populated, there are a number of oakley sets listed now. Just processed my order... lets hope the second half of the transaction goes better than the first !!! :eek:0

I'm still watching. There are about 15 pairs on now, it accepted my code but then won't got to the check out. I emailed them and they are aware of this. It's gonna take them all night to sort this I reckon0

I feel like I have been burned by this promo. Oakley are now loading on their site, but my previous short-listed frames have all disappeared. Can they do that? Money Saving Expert said they have 100s of frames in stock. I think Groupon / MSE should do more checks on companies before over selling vouchers that companies can clearly not handle. It seems Groupon are all about getting the voucher sale but not the after care. Direct Sight it seems is a new company. How can they be trusted to service so many customers? Who is to blame here. Is it Groupon, MSE or Direct Sight? Or all of them?0

I emailed direct sight last week asking if/when they would be getting more Oakley Fives in. I got the response they might have some in stock but not on the website and that it would be best if I called. I did and they had a pair so I bought over the phone.
I was told that when they run low on stock they remove them from the website so that they dont take orders for more than they have in stock. You would have thought that an online retailer would have a stock system linked live to their website. I still think they did something underhand in all this. I wonder how many of the 3000 odd people who bought vouchers from groupon got what they wanted without any hassle.... Hopefully I was in a minority.
I'm happy cos I got the sunglasses I wanted at about 50% off but took alot of grief. I'll be more careful in the future of offers like this tho.0 -
I also bought the groupon voucher for directsight. Before i bought it i checked out there site and spotted 3 pairs of Bolle sunnies i fancied but when the voucher became valid ALL bolle sunglasses had been removed from the site. However, settled for a pair of Oakleys, which even with the groupon voucher i realised after i could have got them practically anywhere much cheaper. 3 weeks later they hadnt arrived so emailed directsight to be told they were coming direct from italy and will be here (here being their warehouse) any day now...another week later and nothing....told by directsight they have absolutely no way of tracing the sunnies and have no idea when they would be here but should be here within the next 9 months!!!! What a f******* joke! So 57 days later I cancelled and got all the money back from directsight straight away (dont think they were the slightest bit interested in my custom). Also got in touch with groupon who refunded my voucher....Although they also told me that they would put £6 credit into my groupon account which would be available from the end of that day until 29th december....still isnt in my account.0
