I have my landline and broadband provided by vodafone at home.
In the last 2 weeks the telephone cables that supply several local villages have been stolen 3 yes THREE times, by thieves who are targeting the rural underground cables.
After the first occurence that left not only my house, but over 300 others without telephone and broadband for 5 days, I telephoned vodafone, who told me that there is no compensation for the days without the service I have paid for.
I rang again yesterday to ask since this has now happenend for a third time, would they be giving a partial refund for the days usage lost, and once again the answer was no.
Is it worth writing to their head office?
Many Thanks

Worst they can say is no, so give it a try0

What do the T&Cs say? Most suppliers will have something relating to loss of service. To be honest, if they're being so unreasonable and you're out of contract, switch suppliers.0
-
I'd try it, but contractually you might have a problem insisting on it. After all it's a problem totally outside their control.0

It might be out of their control, but 5 days to repair is not acceptable. You may find that, like other companies, they grant free service after 24 hours of the fault being reported. One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

And here i would argue that being made to pay for services you do not have access to through no fault of your own would be covered by the Unfair Contract Terms Act.........
Has the matter been reported to the police or anything? Perhaps contact your local police station and ask for a crime reference number to provide to vodafone. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Thank you for the comments.
Yes our local police are aware, in fact they spent the day in the village last Thursday with a BT representative talking to people about what to look out for etc.. And then the cables were stolen again about 8 hours later! We are still not back on yet. I am lucky that my boss is allowing me to use the computer in my break to catch up with some emails etc. We are not the only area that is being targeted, they have also hit another area about 20 minutes away. It is just so awful! There are some eldery residents in the village who relay on call buttons to summon help, these are useless without the phonelines. We are all keeping an eye out for them. Its once of those times when people pull together and really help each other."Aunty C McB-Wik"

Would it be worth investing in one of these (there are other networks available) to keep you connected until it's finally sorted.
