Take That Copenhagen

Good morning experts,
I was in Copenhagen over the weekend expecting to see Take That in concert.
However, less than 30 minutes before the doors opened I received an e-mail explaining that they had cancelled the concert as Mr Williams was claiming to be too ill to perform.
I am wondering what my rights are? I understand from the ticket company that I will be receiving a full refund for the concert tickets. What I would like to know is:- can I claim the costs of my flights and hotel accommodation back from Take That (or their agents, managers etc)? They will, after all, be insured for cancellation costs.
The sole reason for going to Copenhagen was to attend the concert as we could not get tickets for the UK.
Do you think that we have a case or should I just lump it?
Cheers,

Did you buy as a package? If so you might have a claim (need to talk to the organiser about that).
But I suspect you went under your own steam and I think you will have to lump it.0 -

Take That/their agents/management will probably be insured for cancellation. But their policy will probably be limited to refund of ticket sales, venue costs, staff and roadie costs etc.
If you bought a package tour then you can claim off the tour/travel agent. If you bought a mish mash of Ryanair/hotels etc then you need to claim off your travel insurance. The man without a signature.0 -

Would travel insurance cover this? After all, there has been no 'failure' in the travel or accommodation, only the event itself - which is covered by the event promoter.
Unfortunately, having travelled to various sporting events in Europe over the years that have been cancelled / postponed / abandoned, I've had to put it down as one of those "facts of life".Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Agreed. The airline/hotel have not failed to provide the purchased goods/services. So unless your travel insurance covers cancelled events then you're pretty much scuppered.0

Thanks to all of those that replied.
We booked our flights and hotel accommodation independently so I guessed that we would not be covered by ATOL or our travel insurance.
Having said all of that we did have a good time but it was annoying that we were unable to enjoy the concert.0 -
When I read the title of this thread, I thought it was an exclamation of a satisfying blow of retribution, aimed at the city of Copenhagen, after a disappointing stay.
Take that, Copenhagen!
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
As disappointing as it was, I doubt you will get any more back. It was your choice to go to Cpoenhagen - given the cost, it would have been cheaper to buy a ticket through official re-sellers in the UK for a UK concert - I'd put it down to experience, but do still check your insurance etc - sorry.0
