Insurance companies have car owners over a barrel, we need car insurance by law & they are exploiting this by charging ridiculous amounts for any change you make to your policy. Abour 4 /5 years ago in one year I once changed my car 3 times & didn't get charged anything for doing so, now it would cost £100+.
I imagine you have been charged an admin fee for EACH change which is disgusting.

We have to take these charges into account when we buy our cover.
If I thought I'd move or change cars during the term of a policy, I'd make sure the charges I'd face were reasonable.
Often, we get a cheaper rate because we're willing to accept the charges. We tend to want it all ways though. (eg) "If I don't move or change cars, why should my premiums be higher to fund services for those who do?"
We need to spend a bit more time working out what's right for US not being spoon-fed the stuff the comparison sites feed us.I am a mortgage broker. According to my wife's SW stuff, page 4 of the pdf, there's a £55 fee for cancellation in the first year with them £27.50 thereafter, or transaction fees of £26 for an alteration whether the premium rises, falls or stays the same.
So I guess they can charge you £26 for the change of address, plus £26 for the change of vehicle, then you'd pay the premium difference for the vehicle at the new risk address.
Like I said, you have to look at the charges for alterations the same way you look at the excess, premiums etc when you buy.
I changed in June and I picked a firm with no charges for alterations.

If I were you I would try & speak to a manager about it.
I'm with Aviva & they charge £15 admin fee for any amendments & I thought that was pricey as they didn't use to charge anything last year.
