Possible Fraud on my account

This morning I loaded up my account to find a direct debit has gone through for £44.50, details below:

"Santander Card UK 6319XXXXXXXXX"

The card number is a full 16 digit card number however I havent got a Santander account nor does the 16 digit card number correlate to any of my bank cards. Could I possibly have been the vicitim of fraud? I have had a look into my direct debit profile and found the above card DD and theres another one with a different card number that hasnt yet taken any money.

This must be fraud surely. If it is, its the second f***g time its happened on my Lloyds Bank Account!!!

Santander cards can be a finance company as well... they do finance (or did) for people like dfs etc so have you bought anything on finance?

Oh my god im such an idiot.... I bought a sofa from DFS on finance 3 months ago and that must be the first installment!

Id completely forgotten about it and just assumed the worst! I have cancelled both direct debits now, can they be reinstated by DFS automatically or do you think I will need to phone up?

Alternatively this could also be a store card.

GE Money that used to run most of the store cards like Top Shop, Dorothy Perkins, Warehouse etc are now run by Santander and this is what shows on a bank statement.

I think you need to speak to your bank to make absolutely sure as a number that starts 6319 is usually a store card number.

That post was SO helpful, thank you. Like the original comment I too purchased from DFS and I too now feel very embarrassed. But thanks to you I do have an answer to my dilemma - Santander just told me that they have no 'live' cards in my name! (and didn't mention any credit agreements)
