Cancellation Fees. Worth checking the small print?

I am currently on Scottish Power's Online Energy Saver 14, one of the lowest tariffs.

I looked at my agreement and 5.8 caught my eye. It seemed to suggest that if charges rise and I use my right to cancel I will not be charged cancellation fees. I emailed SP to check it out. This is the reply I got this morning.

"Your current product of Online Energy Saver 14 is due to expire on 31st August 2012. As part of this product agreement there is a cancellation fee, however, by using your Right to Cancel, you will not be charged this fee should you wish to change supplier."

On checking comparison sites the best fixed rate tariff I can find, taking account of cash back and cancellation fees I would have to pay about 14% more . So, if I have not misunderstood, no hurry to fix then!
