Money mysteriousy appeared into bank, help pls
My Daughter Naomi started receiving lots of phone calls and text messages telling her she has been approved for finance, each time she told them she has not asked for finance and asked them to leave her alone. 2 days later, (18th July) in the evening Naomi noticed 2 transfers into her bank of £105 from a company called Express Finance, we found the company Express Finance on the internet and phoned them, they have nothing on their records and say it's not from them.
Next we phone the bank (lloyds TSB), she says the company is called Express Finance, and the money has come in from abroad but is waiting to clear, cannot be sent back to them. Lady on phone to bank immediately cancels Naomi's online banking account, and today we are going to the bank to have her account closed and new one opened as they think perhaps someone has got her details online and is using them. Naomi is now at a loss, and is stuck with £210 that she didn't request, which has to be put into her new bank account as she can't close present one with money in. We have also noticed all these phone calls have mysteriously stopped!
Please can you help us get to the bottom of this?

Let the bank freeze the account and carry out an investigation and they should be able to trace the source of the money, you need to keep full details of any Company's that call you over this as there is a scam somewhere cant think what as normaly these ID thieves use a persons details and another unlinked account.0

Many, many years ago, when I lived in the USA, I was preparing to come back to England permanently, and rang Bell Telephone to ask them to send me a final phone bill to close the account. Instead of a bill for about $30, I got a cheque for the same amount. It was a mistake in their accounts dept.
Wouldn't it be great if this is the same? Some scam loan company sends a customer money instead of taking it out of their account. It could be caused just by pressing the wrong button.
You may be the first to have scammed the scammers!"There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
The bank can freeze the account, and leave it open with the money in that doesn't belong to your daughter. It doesn't have to be closed.
And Andy.M, there is no reason at all why the bank 'wouldn't like' her going to the Police - banks work with law enforcement agencies to combat financial crime and fraud and will assist in any investigations. Before you ask, yes, I work for a bank, but no, I didn't get a bonus!0 -
It would be worth checking her credit report in a couple of months to confirm nothing is on it against her name. If she does so too soon the free trial may be over before any defaults have been registered. But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.
