Laying a laminate floor

Were looking at saving up and laminating our front room this year
We have floorboards then carpet on top at the moment.
Can anyone please tell me if we need to buy anything other than the normal underlay that you can buy from B&Q with us having floor boards?
I was told boards are more difficult to lay on that tiles
Thanks in advance

There is a little info here-
Fitting laminate flooring
You will need a pull bar, especially if you are using click laminate.
Remove your carpets and use the laminate underlay, leave the expansion gap around the room as specified for the laminate that you purchase.
You will also need beading to cover the expansion gap.0 -
You need to buy a special underlay called 'petrol' - when you have lots of this underlay, sprinkle it all over the garden, put the laminate floor over it and introduce it to a naked flame (and run!).
I will never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever lay laminate floor again- I'd rather eat my own arm. I am an accountant though; we're not known for our DIY skills.
Bit of an unhelpful comment I'm afraid, but made from experience!
Good luck with your groovy new floor0 -
Its easy enough, never layed it on tiles before but had no problems laying on floorboards. I would stay away from the lower priced laminate as it is really poor quality and wil end up needing replaced before too long. i would even consider looking for a good deal on hardwood flooring although its a good deal harder to fit.
Normal underlay will suffice in laying your laminate and its fairly easy for any DIY'er.
HTHDon't ask me, Im SKINT0
