I have seen this in Comet for 79.99 reduced from 99.99 and want to go get it today.
Is this the right model that everyone seems to rave about or do Panasonic do anymore makes of breadmaker?

Not in debt at the moment, but been there in the past and realise I'm the kind of person who could easily fall back into it with the self destructing spending button so making sure I keep on top of being a good girl.

Thank you.
I went and got it and I'm having a read of the instructions now. Also popped into Tesco and asked for some yeast, she gave me some the size of a pack of butter and said it was free...very nice

You might want to read a few threads on this one - especially about the yeast. It sounds as though the nice lady at Tesco has given you ordinary baker's yeast but you need fast action yeast which comes in little sachets and looks like very finely granulated light brown sugar - almost powdery
The yeast you have may work, although I haven't used it in a breadmaker. Hopefully there will be someone on here who can give you definite advice but I am sure the instructions with your breadmaker will tell you to use the sort of yeast I have described

From the Panasonic instruction book
"Do not use fresh yeast or dry yeast that requires preliminary fermentation. Always use yeast marked 'Easy Blend', 'Fast Action' or 'Easy Bake' on the packet"

Lizzy I have just seen it

I was just about to search here about yeast.
Good job I always read instructions before ploughing in on it.
Now thats strange...I wonder why you can't use normal yeast? Not in debt at the moment, but been there in the past and realise I'm the kind of person who could easily fall back into it with the self destructing spending button so making sure I keep on top of being a good girl.

Well one reason is the the Panasonic rests all the ingedients for about half an hour once you switch the machine on. It gradually raises the temperature of the ingredients to the best temperature for mixing - I think this is one of the reasons for the success of the machine. If you use normal yeast you add it to water and get it started on fermenting - in the Panasonic you put yeast in first and water last - ie you keep them separate during the "rest" phase

Well I have popped out again and bought  the right yeast and have made a medium size white bread on a rapid bake...they're all moaning now here that it will take 2 hours to try

Hi I got exactly the same one yesterday from comet, and currys next door was £20 more expensive. I have made the ciabatta, wholemeal and white bread. It is great. My DH decided he didnt like hot fresh bread as it is too doughy, fine do not eat it then. Just looking now for an irish soda bread recipe. enjoy your BM:D0

Hi...I think Comet are undercutting some of the other major shops like Argos...really ticked actually as I bought daughter straightners for xmas and they were 13.00 cheaper in Comet today
Anyway, we are now at 58 mins to first fresh bread.
I am a bit gutted though that I can't use the FREE fresh yeast... I'm searching around to see if anyone has tried or uses it anyway. If someone else has I might try it too.Not in debt at the moment, but been there in the past and realise I'm the kind of person who could easily fall back into it with the self destructing spending button so making sure I keep on top of being a good girl.
