  • Be very very careful with these people !!
I rented a car with my brother-in-law when he was over from Spain, when we checked it out a couple of minor scratches and dents were ponted out to the spotty youf, " Oh dont worry about them, its the big stuff we check for like smashed lights and bumpers hanging off Ha Ha Ha !! "
Ok we took the car, and 10 days later we took it back, (and even washed the thing !!) Only to be told that as the car had been damaged out deposit was non refundable. This "damage" was just the items pointed out to the spotty youf. As you can imagine the blood pressure rose and lots of arguments ensued. Due to the ever nearing departure time of my brother in laws flight, we left to return an hour later to continue the discusion, only to find different people on the desk who didnt know what had gone on.
An expensive lesson !! Please please check and double check these cars and point out ALL slight scratches and blemishes -- Be PICKY !!

No longer a user, goodbye folks. PLEASE delete my account. Thank you
  • you could take a digital camera with you and make them sign a note saying that they have noted the bumps and scratches, date and sign it

Having done quite alot of vehicle delivery work, both car and trucks, whenever I rent vehicle for my own use I always note down EVERY SINGLE scratch, mark or paint chip. I would suggest that the look round takes at least 15 minutes and make them check the fluids (Oils and Water) in front of you. You are responsible for the fluids so if there is none there to begin with then the engine blows you will get charged. I would also suggest that if it has Aircon then you make sure this is working. I once had a major rental company try to charge me £400 for a new condensor when it was not working when I took the car over, luckilly had noted it on the rental agreement. 15 minutes at the beginning can save you a lot of money at the end.
  • I am amazed and appalled at how EasyCar can get away with withholding deposits for 30 days. Imagine the interest they are gaining on the deposits each month at £50 a throw. They already have your passport details, credit card details, copy of your driving licence, proof of address and they take your picture, what else do they need? Emailing them produces an auto-response and I refuse to call a premium rate number for their customer services.

Their cars are nothing to sing about and you are forced to drive round with their bright orange free advertising attached to the car. Their base was a van in a car park in a council estate in Clapham and the staff couldn't care less bordering on being rude.

The only advice I would give to anyone considering using EasyCar is to stay well away and use an established company such as National who I used in the past week and were excellent in total contrast to EasyCar.
  • I had trouble with Easycar. I went to pick up the car from the underground car park at Euston station. Their 'office' was a van and the man worked from inside it, bit like an ice cream van!

Before you take the car you have to pay a £50 deposit. I also think it's ridiculous that they keep your money for 30 days!!

I had been unfortunate enough to lose my purse the day before collecting the car. This meant I'd lost all my cards including the one I'd originally booked the car with.

Even though I could prove who I was with my passport, driving licence, utility bill etc (do they want my knicker size as well?), because i didn't have a card to pay the deposit on they wouldn't let me take the car. They wouldn't let my boyfriend pay the deposit on his card. It was ridiculous.

We ended up getting a refund but it was a lot of effort emailing them, and getting automated responses! They even wanted a copy of the police crime number re my purse!

So even though they are cheap, they keep your deposit for 30 days, they are completely lacking in customer service skills. Their staff are actually rude!

    Stay well clear, I am!
