Just noticed you can now use your clubcard vouchers to buy railcards - £14 worth of vouchers = 1 year railcard. Seems pretty good.

Probably because the purchase of Disabled Persons Railcards cannot be done at stations or online or via third party sellers.
The issue of them is centralised.

All applications need to go to...
Disabled Persons Railcard Office
PO Box 11631

CLARABEL as you already have a Daily Mail 2 month free one, you qualify for a 50% discount on a 12 month Family and Friends railcard. It will be better value to use this discount code to by the railcard and then use the Tesco clubcard vouchers to buy rail tickets on Redspottedhanky as £10 worth of clubcard vouchers equals £30 travel voucher.

The discount code will be with the letter that was sent with the railcard or if you've lost that, they should have sent you an renewal email with the discount code when your free 2 month railcard ran out.

I have asked Tesco and ATOC why.

Tesco say it's down to ATOC.

ATOC say it's because once people have redeemed their Clubcard points into a voucher for the railcard, it's impossible to return their points to them if they subsequently failed the eligibility requirement.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
• Hmm, they have also excluded the Network railcard (the only option available for an adult without kids) for some reason?
• I emailed Tesco and they have responded:
The only reason the Network Railcard is not included is simply because the Railcard company have not put it into our scheme. This is their decision and unfortunately we have not been given notice of this changing. I apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

If there are any changes to the scheme, these will be advertised on our website.
