can a prisoner recieve their inheritance while in prison

If someone is in prison and they have been left money in a will can they recieve it whilst in prison or does the exector have to keep it untill they come out of prison. Also is there any way that a solicitor would be able to give them their money are anybody of authority that could. The will was sent to probate but not through a solicitor the family did it all themselves.

Thankyou

Please can you put this into English? It makes no sense whatsoever.

As i understand it a prisoner will be able to open an account into which money can be paid, but not able to access it until they are released.

  • Hi,

The prisoners solicitor would be able to send money to the prisoner and this would be added to their spending accounts. All they would need would be the prisoners name and number.

Thankyou for your replys, If we can find out who his solicitor is we shall ask if he could pass it on to him.
  • The solicitor who is dealing with the will would also be able to do this. If sending a chq or postal order to the prison though do make sure that the prisoners name and number are wrote on the back and that they are made payable to Her Majestys Prison Service.

There's probably a limit to what a prisoner can hold in his/her personal jail account. I would seek advice from the relevant prison and solicitor.
