Basically no as you had the chance at point of sale to examine it.0

Not just that, cosmetic "faults" arent really recognised as faults. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0

Although you can return faulty items under the SOGA if a different fault is discovered (despite the shops saying 'this is non-returnable'), I doubt grubbiness would be classed as a fault, particularly as it's something that should be obvious when purchasing. I think sales items are often in a right state - they get kicked all over the floor half the time."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

Ah but they are....
"Freedom from minor defects" encompasses this sort of thing.
However, if OP sends the dress to the dry cleaner she will be deemed to have accepted it.0 -
Where you have no rights
If you were aware of the defect before you bought it
If you bought it from a private buyer on a non-commercial basis (i.e. not a shop)
If you were invited to carry out a thorough inspection of the product and fail to spot a defect which that inspection ought to have revealed
You simply changed your mind or the item was not appropriate due to colour, size or style
The item is dirty and the mark can be removed easily at home. This is not the same as damage and shops are not obliged to give you any discount
I also wouldnt consider marks which can be removed as a defect or a fault, hence why i wrote "faults". Its a mark and i wash all my clothes before wearing them anyway so personally i dont see what the big deal is.You keep using that word. Can't help with the refund query but have you tried wiping the dirt off with a damp cloth or sponge? When we bought my cousins bridesmaid dress from debenhams a few years ago it was mucky along the bottom, we got a discount, and it wiped off really easily (it too was dry clean)0

And we wont know until its washed. If it comes out, no big deal. If it doesnt then theres nothing to stop her returning the dress. Even asking the dry cleaner before committing to the service, they should be able to advise on whether the dirt will be removed or not. The OP did say dirty and not marked........So its not like we're talking about permanent markers here.
As stated though, dirty marks that can be removed arent considered faults and the retailers arent obliged to offer any discount for it.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
The question was 'can I return it for extra discount?', suggesting the OP wants to keep the item, but pay even less for it because she has to wash it. If I were the shop, I'd maybe take it back from you grudgingly, but certainly not go 'oh poor madam, here take an extra tenner from our till and keep the item'.0
