Looked at our internet bank this morning and saw that our rent and another direct debit had gone out meaning out balance had gone from over £1000 to £653 since yesterday and my heart sank as I wasn't expecting it!!! For some reason my brain started panicking about money for no reason whatsoever as the rent normally goes out the last working day of the month anyway (Not sure what the other DD is for so will have to wait til tomorrow for the internet bank to tell me..)...
Sounds stupid but I think I'm panicking because our balance has been over £1000 since before christmas because of DHs wages going in early and to see it drop by so much in one day frightens me! lol. Can't believe I started panicking about being skint and debts etc because of a stupid DD.
I think I'm losing the plot!!! lol!
Edit: just remembered what the other DD is for.. lol.

As far as I know, companies are not allowed to take Direct Debits early, in the event of a Bank Holiday.
They should be taken out on the nearest banking day after the holiday. Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:

lots of mine went out today taking me overdrawn that werent due out till 1st , 2nd and 4th and money goes in tomorrow to cover them-now it wont even cover the charges  and they will bounce them because the charges usually take precedense in the lucrative banking world
Ive taken the initiative now to cancel another 2 dd that were due to go out early next week just to avoid more charges, and now know im going to have to try and claim back my charges ...AGAIN :mad:0 -
Surely if they have taken it out early they should not even consider charging you as this is their fault.
I honestly thought they couldn't take payments out early - that isn't playing fair!First Direct Loan @ 7.9% £13,076.03/£20,250

Proud to be dealing with my debts

Well I know our rent has always been the last working day of the month.. and today is the last working day of the month so it's probably me that's not realised and given myself a shock! The other DD turned out to be something from paypal I was expecting but forgot about.

I've always had the experience that any DD's come out ON or AFTER the specified date unless they give you notice of your date changing so if anyone's being charged for dd's that aren't supposed to have gone out yet that seems very off to me..Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

I'm sure they're not supposed to take Direct Debits early - DD guarantee and all that. Is it one particular bank that has done this? I think I'd be on the phone having a rant - especially if charges are going to be involved!I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

I read this thread and got suddenly very worried as I drew all my tax credits out yesterday and my TV license is due on the 1st.
I just went to look and got a good surprise as I have been paid early (Due on Tuesday) and I have over £100 in there for a change LOL~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I also thought they couldn't take DDs early, though mine have occasionally been taken on a Saturday if it fell on the 1st.
My child benefit went in yesterday though - not due till Monday, so can't complain.
None of our DDs (due the first) have gone out yet. As I was paid on the 22nd this month I have had a lovely healthy bank balance for over a week -that's got to be a first!!!0
