Monkey-Joe - I can well understand how stressful this may be for you.

Speaking from my own (and that of some of my female friends') experience, however, women's menstrual cycles CAN fluctuate and be irregular - this can be the same for a young girl experiencing periods for the first time OR a 40-year-old woman who has been regular-as-clockwork since her first-ever "visit from Auntie Flo".

Any number of things can affect women's cycles - there are various theories, but it seems one of those things that will remain forever a mystery - such as whether Atlantis ever really existed, or how Katie Price ever became a "celebrity"...

My own cycles have never been regular, way back from when I first started to "surf the crimson wave" aged 9.

In my opinion, the best thing for you to do at this stage (for you AND your good lady) is not to worry and wait to see what the GP has to say in a few days' time. I totally realise that this is easier said than done - but being wound-up by the situation won't help.

My advice on anything, financial or otherwise, (realised after taking a severe battering from life's worry-wand) is: don't worry until you know for certain whether or not you have anything to worry about.

You won't do any harm by taking another shop-bought test. But, if it were me, I would wait and see the GP, rather than doing another one. Maybe the problem with your wife's tooth set her body back a bit?

In any case, Monkey-Joe, the over-riding thing I get from your posts is just how lucky your wife is to have such a loving, caring, husband. Whether this current 'fluctuation' results in a baby or not, I am sure that you are going to be a brilliant dad.

Good luck to you and Mrs. Monkey-Joe, whatever the outcome. Let us know how you get on with the GP.

    Best wishes. xx

Stress isn't just mental stress. Your wife's body has been under stress by having an anaesthetic. I don't think the medication would harm the foetus either tbh. If she's had surgery (wisdom tooth is deemed major surgery due to risk of infection and recovery) then it could be a lack of build up in the womb. That combined with blood travelling to another part of the body could have caused her to be late. Hope all goes well at the docs. From personal experience I have been up to 2weeks late when my body has been under stress. Best Wishes for tomorrow.

Agree with you Mangadarkogirl. You've expressed brilliantly what I was trying to say when I wrote "Maybe the problem with your wife's tooth set her body back a bit?". x
