Something digging hole in beds

I had raised beds done for flowers this year and over the last few days something keeps digging a hole in the corner of one of them.
One small plant has been eaten but apart from that nothing else, just a hole ! I know its not my cats, they never go near them so what might it be ??
I'm baffled

Could be a blackbird looking for worms. It's surprising how much soil they can fling out of a container in their relentless search for food.

Thanks.........hadn't thought of birds. Just seemed odd it was the same corner of the bed both times.

    Oh lor.........(panic setting in )
Well whatever it was/is it won't get far -the beds aren't that deep. Maybe it'll get fed up and go away -do hope so if its a four legged creature !
I did wonder about hedgehogs -know we've had one about in the garden but wouldn't have thought they'd do that.
