Hi all,
I have a 120GB 2.5" Western Digital SATA drive with a USB2.0 enclosure but it needs so much power that I have to plug it into 2 USB ports.
Was just wondering if anyone knows a good and easy website where I can get an external enclosure for a portable SATA drive with USB2 and firewire (400 or 800)? Tried searching but most enclosures are for IDE drives. Most of the websites are also in the States and best I could find was for $99 which is a bit too steep for me.
Also, does anyone know if there is a super duper enclosure with eSATA, firewire and USB2? That would be ideal.
Thanks in advance to all you kind folks.

Have you googled for it?
ebay is sometimes a good source for computer peripherals. I had a quick search and there are currently no SATA enclosures with USB and Firewire but it might be worth checking again soon.
Maybe you could search for a USB enclosure with a separate power supply that does not draw power from the USB port.0 -

Doesn't look like one exists that I can find but I'm hoping someone out there in the world must have the same idea as me?macexpert wrote:Have a look on Scan as they have a number of enclosures available.
no, all just ide enclosures. the one sata enclosure they have is usb2.
I would really want a firewire one as i want to clone my mac to the external drive and be able to boot up from firewire from it.0
